The Ring-Necked Duck is no stranger to the sedge-meadow marshes and swamps where this unique waterfowl surrounds itself with a comfortable habitat.  This gorgeous Diver gets its name from the brown ring that circles around its neck, which separates its head from its chest. This illustrious waterfowl could also be called the ring-bill because of the prominent white ring that wraps itself around the beak of the male Ring-necked.
